At Google I/O 2025, Google unveiled Stitch, an AI-powered tool designed to revolutionize user interface (UI) design and development. Leveraging the capabilities of the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, Stitch enables developers and designers to generate high-quality UI designs and corresponding frontend code using natural language descriptions or image prompts.

Key Features

  • Natural Language UI Generation: Users can describe the desired UI in plain English, and Stitch will generate a visual interface tailored to the description.

  • Image-Based Design: By uploading sketches, wireframes, or screenshots, Stitch can interpret these visuals to produce corresponding digital UIs, effectively bridging initial visual ideas to functional designs.

  • Rapid Iteration and Design Exploration: Stitch allows for the generation of multiple interface variants, facilitating experimentation with different layouts, components, and styles to achieve the desired look and feel.

  • Seamless Transition to Development: Once a design is finalized, Stitch provides options to export the design to Figma for further refinement or to generate clean, functional frontend code (HTML/CSS) ready for implementation.

Applications

Stitch is particularly beneficial for:

  • Rapid Prototyping: Quickly transforming ideas into functional UI prototypes without extensive manual coding.

  • Design-Development Collaboration: Bridging the gap between designers and developers by providing a common platform for UI generation and refinement.

  • Educational Purposes: Assisting learners in understanding UI design principles and frontend development through hands-on experimentation.

Access and Availability

Stitch is currently available as an experimental tool through Google Labs. Interested users can access it by visiting and signing in with their Google account.
